Zofran is a prescription drug used to treat nausea and vomiting. The active ingredient in Zofran is ondansetron, which belongs to a group of drugs called serotonin receptor antagonists. Serotonin receptors are found in the brain and gut, and ondansetron blocks their activity. This helps to stop nausea and vomiting.

This medication was prescribed to me by my oncologist to treat the nausea/vomiting associated with the cancer chemotherapy I was undergoing.

I was introduced to this medication during my first course of chemotherapy, just before the chemo was infused I was given Ondansetron to quell the vomiting. I cannot say how dangerous this drug is for my body, but as a person who was exposed to it I can say for sure - the drug is effective. Of course I was afraid, and after the course of chemo I bought a pack of these ampoules so that in case of severe attacks of vomiting I could continue antiemetic treatment already at home, but even a single injection is enough. I was unpleasantly surprised that this necessary medication in some networks of pharmacies is considered as a prescription drug!
