Furadantin - Nitrofurantoin - 50mg/100mg

It is used to treat infections of the bladder, kidneys, and other parts of the urinary tract. Nitrofurantoin may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

You should not use nitrofurantoin if you are pregnant. It could harm the unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. Nitrofurantoin can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

Nitrofurantoin is an effective antibiotic for treating urinary tract infections (UTIs). The most common side effects include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea; these usually resolve within a few days even without treatment. Rarely, more serious side effects such as allergic reactions or liver damage can occur; contact your healthcare provider immediately if any unusual symptoms develop while taking nitrofurantoin.

If you experience symptoms of a UTI such as pain or burning when urinating, cloudy or bloody urine, fever, chills, body aches), talk to your healthcare provider about whether nitrofurantoin is right for you - it’s often prescribed as first line therapy for uncomplicated UTIs.
