Is an anticholinergic agent used in the symptomatic treatment of all etiological groups of parkinsonism and drug-induced extrapyramidal reactions (except for tardive dyskinesia). Artane has both anticholinergic and antihistamine effects, although only the former has been found to be therapeutically relevant in the treatment of parkinsonism
Andrew Smith –
I have been taking Artane for a long time. I was first prescribed it because I had a bad tremor. It worked great for me, the tremor stopped! I also found that my thinking became much clearer, more focused. The doctor then told me that Artane could also help with Parkinson’s disease symptoms, so I started taking it for that as well, and again - huge improvement! The only problem was very severe constipation, but my doctor prescribed medication to soften my stools, and all was well.
