Zovirax Ophtalmic (Acyclovir) comes as a solution (liquid) to instill into the eyes. It is usually instilled in each eye four times daily for 7 days, or until your doctor tells you to stop. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Instill Zovirax Ophthalmic Solution exactly as directed. Do not use more or less of it or use it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
If you are using Zovirax Ophthalmic Solution at home, follow these steps: Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after using ZOVIRAX OPHTALMIC SOLUTION. Tilt your head back slightly and pull down on the lower eyelid of the infected eye with one finger to form a pouch. Hold the dropper above the pouch and release 1 drop into it. Close your eyes for 1 minute, allowing time forthe medicine tobetter absorbinto themyeye tissue. Repeat these steps if necessary 3 more times during that day’s treatment period
