Frequently asked Questions

Are trusopt eye drops preservative free?

Trusopt is a medication used to treat high pressure inside the eyes. It comes as a liquid that is put into the eyes using an eyedropper. The main ingredient in trusopt is dorzolamide hydrochloride, which helps to lower the pressure by decreasing the production of fluid within the eye.

One concern people may have about this medication, however, is whether or not it contains any preservatives. Preservatives are chemicals that are added to medications in order to help them last longer and prevent bacteria from growing. Some people believe that preservatives can be harmful and may cause side effects such as headaches, skin irritation, or even problems with vision.

Trusopt does contain a small amount of benzalkonium chloride (BAC), which is a type of preservative. However, BAC has been shown to be safe and effective when used in low doses like those found in trusopt . In fact, BAC has been used for many years in contact lens solutions and other medications without causing any serious problems . So while some people may choose not to take Trusopt because it contains a preservative , there is no evidence that this ingredient poses any real danger

How does Trusopt work?

Trusopt works by opening up the drainage channels in the eye, which allows excess fluid to flow out. This reduces pressure inside the eye and can help prevent vision loss.

How do you administer trusopt?

In order to administer this medication properly, you must follow these steps:

1) Make sure you are using the correct bottle and dose of trusopt.
2) Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before administering the drops.
3) Shake well before each use.
4) Tilt your head back and pull down on your lower eyelid with one hand (use thumb if needed). Hold dropper above eye and release one drop into space between lid and eyeball (try not to touch eyeball). Do not blink or close eyes for 60 seconds after dropping drug into eye(s). If more than one drop is prescribed, wait 30 seconds between drops. Repeat steps 2 through 4 for other eye if prescribed .

It is also important to keep in mind some potential side effects of trusopt such as blurred vision, stinging or burning sensation in eyes, headache, dry mouth or throat irritation etc.. If any of these symptoms occur, be sure to contact your doctor right away

Is trusopt a beta blocker?

Yes, Trusopt is a beta blocker. It was developed to treat high blood pressure and heart problems by blocking the effects of adrenaline. Trusopt can also be used to prevent migraines.
