Fasigyn (tinidazole), an oral agent, is available as 500-mg tablets for single-dose therapy of trichomoniasis and giardiasis and as 1-g tablets for treatment of amebiasis, bacterial vaginosis, and other indications. The usual dosage range for adults is 1–2 g/day, given in 2 or 3 divided doses; however, doses up to 4 g/day have been used safely in some patients with severe infections. In children older than 3 years of age who weigh more than 15 kg (33 lb), the dose should be based on weight: 30 mg/kg per day administered in 2 divided doses not exceeding 1 g total per day
